The Mines Resort & Golf Club installs weatherproof passive loudspeaker into its open field golf course

The Mines Resort & Golf Club was in the market to look for solution for a weatherproof loudspeaker to be installed into its gold course. The loudspeaker will be place at the open field where it is exposed to nature elements such as tropical sunshine, monsoon rain and erratic thunderstorm. 

Having installed a weatherproof LED wall panel  on its field, The Mines Resort & Golf Club reached out to KE Electronics and AV Electronics Marketing (AVEM) for a proposal for the audio side of weatherproof solution. AVEM is no stranger to such system, having successfully configure and install weatherproof loudspeaker to venue such as KL Tower, Gamuda Land & Flowrider 1 Utama. We also supplier partial weatherproof speaker system to Stadium Sarawak.

Of course, no electronics component will be on the field. All electronics component such as audio mixer, power amplifier, audio processor are in a secure place to ensure it is protected from rainwater. We only need a weatherproof loudspeaker on the field. The model of loudspeaker installed here are the custom version of Audiocenter PF-15+. Audiocenter PF-15+ is a flagship passive loudspeaker from Audiocenter. There is option by manufacturer to custom made this loudspeaker to be a weatherproof version. 

What are the changes the weatherproof version from standard version? First, the cabinet painting will be different by using a waterproof version of paint instead of the regular paint. The handle and the pole hole are removed in the custom made version. It is to reduce the numbers of possibility of leakage into the cabinets. The M8 screw holes that are using to mount the speaker are reduce to 3 to further reduce the possibility of leakage. The cable connection using normal Speakon is removed and replaced with the weather proof version. The internal of the cabinets, crossover board, woofer's cone, tweeter are treated with layers of moist and water proof chemical. 

The weatherproof speaker is installed on site in late November 2022. This is exactly the north-east monsoon season and there are thunderstorm everyday. Prior to this installation, the golf course is using a single unit Behringer passive loudspeaker. It's used as portable unit; to be setup during good weather and to be kept in store when rain starts. However, this is extremely troublesome to the operators because, the thunderstorm often come and go in surprising speed. The operators are always caught off guard!

With the latest addition of weatherproof loudspeaker Audiocenter PF15+WP, all these problems are solved. Since it installed in late November 2022, it has serve few major golf tournaments such as MDEC Invitational Golf 2022, FGV Invitational Golf 2022, 2022 Luzhoulaojiao Guojiao 1573 Malaysia Golf Tournament & The Mines Resort & Golf Club December Invitational Monthly Golf Game 2022. We confident that the installed PF-15+WP can serve more tournaments in years to come.
